Harvest & Heritage Days

Historic Honesdale rolls out the pumpkins, hay bales, cornstalks, and fall colors for its annual "Harvest & Heritage Days", Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9, sponsored this year by Wayne Bank with support from Wayne County Tourism.

There will be lots to do this fun, fall weekend. Shoppers will want to explore the greater Honesdale area, which offers lots of wonderful shops, eateries, and fine services.

Craft vendors will line Main Street on both days. Old-fashioned hayrides will be offered downtown, for a small fee, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Railroad buffs can enjoy railroad exhibits at the Wayne County Historical Society Museum on Main Street. The expanded and renovated Historical Society museum also offers many other exhibits and is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, and from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. This year, the museum invites families to celebrate their heritage! There will be free admission for kids and senior citizens, a children’s craft table and history lab and a blow-out museum shop sale.

The train will also be running on both days with trips to Hawley and Lackawaxen! For more information on schedules and ticket prices, please go to www.thestourbridgeline.net, call 570-470-2697, or email info@thestourbridgeline.net. All aboard!

We invite you to visit the Wayne County Farmers' Market on Saturday, October 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. where you will find fresh produce, flowers, plants, herbs, and many more locally grown and handmade items. The market is located in front of Dave’s Super Duper at 200 Willow Ave. (Rte. 6).

Make sure you stop in to see The Stourbridge Lion Model Railroad Club's wonderful train layout. It can be found in Grace Episcopal Church, 827 Church Street and is open Saturday only from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Enjoy several demonstrations under the Fred Miller Pavilion on Saturday, such as Bee Keeping, Animal Conservation, Martial Arts, and more! More details to follow!

And for the kids, there will be pumpkin painting on Saturday in front of The Honesdale National Bank's Corporate Center on Main Street, sponsored by the Wayne County YMCA. Pumpkin painting will be available on Saturday, from noon to 4:00 p.m.

And you’ll want to make the time for a tour of our historic Old Stone Jail. The jail is located next to the Wayne County Court House on Court Street by our beautiful Central Park and will be open on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Saturday evening will feature an antique car cruise around Honesdale's beautiful Central Park, sponsored by the Greater Honesdale Partnership from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. More than 75 antique cars are expected to cruise into town for your enjoyment. Starting at 5:00 p.m., there will be music from the fifties and sixties, which is bound to bring back some great memories.

On Sunday, October 11, taste some of the best homemade soup and chili as several of our area restaurants and local chefs compete to see who makes the best.

The Soup ‘R Chili Taste-off takes place from noon to 3:00 p.m. and is co-sponsored by Rent-E-Vent by Rent-E-Quip. For information on how you can participate, please contact Kevin Bernitt at 570-253-3055, Michelle Bonham at 570-251-8994 or the GHP at 570-253-5492.
