Kick-off your summer at historic Honesdale’s “Festival of the Arts”, Saturday, May 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This 7th annual event is brought to you by the Greater Honesdale Partnership, sponsored by The Honesdale National Bank, with support from Wayne County Tourism.

You are invited to visit Honesdale; browse through the great variety of stores, learn about the wonderful local services, and dine at one of the many area restaurants and cafes. Honesdale has great shops on every block, so wear your “walking shoes”. As part of our “Festival of the Arts” event, many of Honesdale’s restaurants and cafés will be offering cleverly named “Festival of the Arts” weekend specials along with their usual friendly service and reasonable prices.

The birthplace of the American Railroad, Honesdale is proud to be the home of the Wayne County Historical Society’s museum, where visitors can see a full-scale replica of the famous Stourbridge Lion, the first locomotive to run on a commercial track in America, and enjoy viewing the many interesting photographs from the past. Train buffs can also enjoy a railroad exhibit depicting the history of the D&H Canal Co. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from Memorial Day through Columbus Day are also open Sunday from noon to 4:00 p.m. New exhibits this year include A Walk Through Historic Wayne County, PA; An Artistic Vision of Howard Becker, an updated cut glass exhibit, Photography of Chip and Gloria Forelli, and Illustrations from Boyds Mills Press’ The Stourbridge Lion. Saturday Events – May 19

Enjoy the many craft vendors lining Main Street. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the Wayne County Farmer’s Market from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Farmer’s Market is located in front of the Visitor’s Center, (with some vendors open longer on Main Street as well) just one block from Main Street, and features fresh, locally grown produce, flowers, plants, herbs, homemade baked goods, jewelry, and many more locally made items. Enjoy live entertainment and demonstrations under the Fred Mill Pavilion from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., including Martial Arts, Dog Training and Local Music Student’s Band plus various “The Art Of…..” demonstrations throughout town.

An Antique Car Cruize will top off the evening around our historic Central Park beginning at 5:00 p.m. with 50s music provided by DJ Ricki Z. We invite you to visit one of our great restaurants and pick-up a “picnic” dinner to enjoy as you view the antique cars!

Sunday Events – May 20

Our craft vendors will be back, the restaurant specials continue and there are more demonstrations and music under the pavilion.  We invite you to the 2:00 p.m. kick off of our Antiques on Wheels Display around our beautiful Central Park, sponsored by Wayne County Ford, B&B Dodge, Baer Sports Center, and the Wayne County Commissioners. Enjoy seeing antique cars, trucks, motorcycles, and tractors. Trophies will be awarded. We again invite you to visit one of our great restaurants and pick-up a “picnic” lunch to enjoy as you view the antique vehicles!

The fifth “Airing of the Quilts” is sure to bring color to Honesdale’s Main Street and Church Street as over 30 handcrafted quilts are displayed. The “Airing of the Quilts” is sponsored by A Stitch In Time.
